About Me

I'm a native of Detroit who came to New York City in the late '80s for grad school and never left.

My competitive and coaching experience in muay Thai spans more than two decades, multiple continents, former and current champions, and several titles. I love to train and teach muay Thai to anyone who wants to learn, fighter or not. This love and the desire to improve myself and my fighters -- and to make us healthier and stronger, too -- lead me to the StrongFirst School of Strength and Conditioning and it's off-shoots; it continues to inform the way I train and the way I train my students.

I've been following a plant-based diet for nearly a quarter-century, and I've known people nearly that long who have no idea. That makes me feel good, somehow.

I have an 11 year old son who is both smarter and more athletic than me, and a rescued pit bull who is the coolest dog on the planet.
