Juice Fast: Day 20

It's winter recess for the NY Public Schools, so my son and his mom are off to Florida. That means  that Forest gets to come with me to Five Points every day. We both enjoy that, me because he's great to have around all day and him because he gets spoiled by all the attention from everyone at the gym.

Juice Fast: Winter Solstice. Only 10 days left on my 30 day juice fast. It's hard to believe it's gone so quickly. I've felt great pretty much the whole time, no hunger pangs, made strength gains, had plenty of energy for my training, teaching and life in general. I have lost a bit of weight (about 7 or 8 pounds) which wasn't my goal and I really didn't need; I'm a bit thin at the moment. But I feel healthy and strong and I can always eat more when the fast is over:) It's pretty cool.

Training:

Strength Training: It's the weekend, so it's all about bodyweight exercises. Getting in touch with how my body links together and giving the joints a break from loading. Plus, it's fun -- especially with Forest in the mix.

Warm Up: easy run for Forest and me on the treadmill. You can see a video clip here.
One Arm One Leg PushUp: assisted with the small plyoband so I can get reps in for practice. I did them as ladders: 5,4,3,2,1 on each side.
Pull Ups: 5,4,3,2,1, with pause at the bottom and pulling to the chest at the top.
Pistols: 5,4,3,2,1 left and right
Ab Work: Ab Wheel 2 x 10.

Skill Training:
Bag work: 30 second intervals -- :30 hard work on the bag, :30 easy shadowbox for recovery. 30 minutes, with a different technique focus each round.

Taught the sparring class, a mixed level muay thai class, a kettlebell class, a private student...and we're out! I really enjoy Saturdays. It's a full day but very compact, so I'm done early afternoon with plenty of down time to enjoy the rest of the day.
